Another Brian Update
Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:33AM | by
Brian Hello everyone. I just wanted to write a quick post to keep everyone as updated as possible with what's going on here. First of all, as some of you may know, I'm not home at the moment. I'm not able to give too many details about where I am, what I'm doing, or how long I'll be here, but just know that I'm finally doing what I've been training for over the last six years.
Well, just to ease everyone's minds, the accomodations are pretty nice. The rooms are small and my mattress actually has a spring poking out the side of it. But, I'm a three minute walk to a 24 hour dining facility. I'm a ten minute walk from a small BX, library, a small gym, and the laundry facility (where you drop off the dirty clothes and pick them up clean three days later.) And if that wasn't enough, I'm a twenty minute walk (or a five minute bus ride) from the big BX, a brand new 24 hour gym with an indoor pool, another dining facility, and the Community Center which houses multiple pool tables, wireless internet, Playstations and X-Boxes. The down side is that I work often enough that I can't utilize all of these ammenities to their true potential.
The high today is 93 degrees, but it always feels hotter on the ramp. Plus, our aircraft doesn't have air conditioning on the ground. So, it gets pretty hot up there. However, this is the first year that the temperature didn't break 100 in March, so maybe it will be nice and cool this summer. I'll let you know how that goes.
Feel free to ask questions, but please don't mention specific places or dates. It's better to give too little information than too much. Don't be offended if I delete comments or reword them to make them more military friendly. Anyways, I'll try to keep everyone as updates as possible. Hope everything is going well with you all.

Brian,
Great to hear from you. I guess you are feeling "hot, hot, hot" as the song says. Sorry. Just can't help myself.
You need to practice up on your Rook playing. There are a couple of ladies that will be out for revenge when we play again.
I'm proud of you. Be safe.
Glad to hear from you. We are praying for your safety, but that is nothing new. LOVE YOU LOTS.
Mom
Hi man, good ur arrived and settled there. take care urself and see ya by the river side in London for some cheerful chat when ur back. good man xxxxxxxx
Might not want to give too many weather updates. Might get to specific and get yourself in trouble. I say this because as a caddie I've become a weather nerd and I could narrow it down a bit by what you just told us. Maybe I'm wrong but think about that. I'm gald you are getting to know the area. Seems like it won't be such a bad time. We really have missed you this week( and before but it just really hit home when we don't see you with your wife). Be safe and thanks for everything you do.
Thank you,
G Jr.
Copy, if you are a weather nerd, get off the site right now. Just kidding, we welcome all types of nerds, especially weather nerds. Lucky for me, as it turned out, yesterday was much hotter than I thought, so my numbers were a little off. And, just for the loyal readers, I took note of the temperature in the jet during the hour long preflight. It was 62 C. That is 143 F. That is hot!
Thanks for all the comments. I miss all of you guys too.
Baby, that is too hot. Do I need to write you a note?
Love,
Mom
Brian,
I’m glad you guys all got out there safely. Good luck staying awake on your missions. Let me know if there’s anything you need while you’re gone. See you when you get back. Have fun!
Jeff
You can't fool me. I am a weather nerd mentioned above, and I see this week that the temps are getting into the 90's this week in Cancun. Leave it to the Chair Force to find the nice "sandy" beach assignments. Your da man Brian!
BTW, it took you six years to get your beach body ready? Should have used P90X!
The weather updates are AWESOME! You could always post the temperatures in celcius to make it harder for everyone. :) Glad you're doing well! David says hello, too!
Brian,
I wanted to Thank You for "Allowing" your wife to spend my 50th Birthday with me! It was a great surprise that I will never forget. We did miss you being here. We have no one around to laugh at Gerald's jokes. Except Gerald!!!
Be Safe and we will see you soon.
Love,
Pam
Ha ha! Mom's last comment made me laugh out loud. Awesome.
Brian, I sure wish I could get away with saying, "It's classified" every time I don't want to talk. You would say, "Katy, are you mad at me? What are you thinking right now?" And I would say, "Sorry, that's classified."
Mom would say, "Katy, why haven't I heard from you in six weeks?" And I would say, "Well, mom, you see...that's classified."
And the neighbors would say, "Katy, why are you sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor looking at pictures of Brian and crying?" And I could say, "That's...cl...cla...classssssssified!"
I'll try it.
