Picture This

I had high hopes of keeping everyone informed of my every move since I have been away. But, there is only so much I can say. The cool things I do are all classified, and the other things include eating, sleeping, and playing pool or working out. My billiard skills and basketball skills have, however, improved since I've been here. Some good news is that the wound from my Smallpox vaccine has officially healed. I know that seems silly to some of you and a little gross to others, but for the past five weeks I've had to keep that area covered with a Band-Aid. That doesn't seem terrible until you realize that every day, I have to rip off that Band-Aid. So, that's exciting news for me...

But the most exciting thing that's happened was recieving a package from Katy! I forgot to bring any pictures, so in that package was a whole photo album of pictures of us, the Chief, our families, and our friends. I was so excited that I started showing Dan (the other pilot I'm here with) my pictures. Little did I know that I would have a lot of explaining to do.

You know you've been related to the Hinesley family for a long time when you think it's normal to have a picture of your father-in-law standing over you and your wife in bed wearing a Whoopee Cushion costume. For those of you who know Gerald (the self-proclaimed G-Man) it's not a surprising image. But, how do you explain that to someone who isn't in that circle of trust? It went a little something like this...

"Oh...that's Katy's dad. Every year he buys a costume the day after Halloween (to get a good deal) in preparation for the New Year's party. So, when he woke us on on Christmas morning, he decided to wear his Whoopee Cushion costume."

Why does that sound so normal to me? It seems like a very simple explaination, right? Apparently that is weird to other people. Who knew?

I don't have the picture on my computer, or I'd gladly post it. Hopefully Katy will add it to the website so you can all form your own opinions about how strange (or normal) it really is. In the mean time, I'll try to come up with some better stories for you all. I will post a few pictures of my new little world. I haven't taken too many, but there are a couple of interesting ones. In honor of Gerald...Lee you sater!

We're thinking of you and Katy (and extended family). We just wanted to know that the 4 of us pray for you all daily. Thanks for all you do!!!

Brian,

I never realized that my costumes would become "world famous". Like you, I don't know why anyone would think that a Whoopee costume would be weird.

Look forward to seeing you.

Love the "circle of trust" comment. You're hilarious!

There are lots of things that seem "normal" to my family...but not to the rest of the world. Like opening one gift each Christmas Eve and having to say, "Wow, mom and dad...thanks SO much for the sexy Mrs. Claus lingerie! I'm sure this will come in handy."

But, let's be honest, Brian. Your family isn't exactly "normal," either. Every time I use a styrofoam cup, I'm tempted to wash it and save it for your mom as a Christmas gift. What's worse is that I'm pretty sure she would LOVE nothing more than a collection of used styrofoam.

The lingerie thing is weird! That is a tradition that needs to go the way of the dodo.
